James' first haircut

Well, I thought this was suppose to be more traumatic for the parents (or at least Mom), than the child, but James wanted nothing to do with his first haircut. The only part of the whole thing that was OK was first sitting on the stool and being able to see himself in the mirror. As soon as she came at him with the cape to put around him he started squirming and crying. We even tried a sucker to no avail. She did really well with him throwing himself around, screaming and crying, and drooling (for some reason) all over. WOW!!
Becca took the pictures, and even she couldn't keep him happy.
Well, we had a good holiday weekend. Jason leaves in the morning for Madison, WI., for a conference. His brother is getting married on Saturday, Bradley and Becca are in the wedding, it will be a busy couple of days. Then, I leave Sunday morning for Disney for work, which I am not looking forward to at all. I'm sure it will be fine once we get there...at least it is in the 90's down there. :)
I just wanted to let everyone know...James now at least looks like a "little man", hopefully nobody will ask me how old my girls are. I still am in awe that I had so many people ask me "how old is she". Even when he was dressed in blue/red/green...and I think he looks like a little boy in the face, not a little girl. We'll see!!!!

Beginning of Memorial Day Weekend

My little gardener at work:

After we got done planting some flowers around the house, we took the kids to the park. They had a good time, but since it was so nice out, the park was pretty crowded. James really enjoys just hanging out and watching the kids. He was quite content. Becca invited her friend Audrey to go with us. Here are some pics of the kids playing/watching.

The weekend has started out pretty good, hopefully the nice weather will continue and we will get to spend more time outside. Well, We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend, stay safe!!!

Are mohawks back in?

Does every parent do this to their kids?? Well, look at the time again (11:56pm), I have been trying to get our pictures off our camera for the past 2 hours.
I finally got it, something with our camera not being compatible with vista.
Well, my newest dilemma is getting James off of his bottle. The doctor wanted him off at his last appointment at 15 months, he is now 16 months. I have had people tell me about the 'tummy ticklers' that have the juice in them and used them for milk after they had drank the juice, others that say just do it cold turkey, etc., however James does not like milk in the sippy cups, and not a big fan of the 'tummy ticklers' either. I'm worried about him not getting enough milk. Also, it's one step closer to him being a "big" kid and not my baby anymore...it's so sad. So, if anyone has any ideas on how to get him off the bottle or any therapy tips for me to actually let my 'baby' grow up...just let me know.
Now that I have 305 pictures off my camera, I am ready to take more (no,they were not recent, some were from Christmas). My goal is to actually use my 2 digital cameras that I have...we'll see.

Good night!!

I think I figured it out...

Well, now I finally (after about 1 1/2 hours) got this picture on...enjoy. This is what I told Jason I wanted for Mother's Day, so we took the kids to Portrait Innovations and got it done. It was a LONG day, our appointment was at 11:15am, we got in about 11:45am, James was terrible, Becca plastered a 'fake' grin on her face, and Bradley always has trouble smiling "normally". They took 52 pictures, and this was the only OK one. Well, I just wanted to see if I (thanks Jason for helping) could get a picture on. I am hoping it is easier with the digital camera...we'll try that tomorrow. Well, Good night!!

First time

OK...Thanks to a few of our friends that have done this...we are going to try. However I feel that our news is going to be pretty boring compared to a lot of yours. We aren't having any more babies, our youngest is 16 months, etc...but maybe our family and friends will enjoy this. I am going to be winging this, so don't get too upset about not seeing how cute our family is with pics. I will, I'm sure get there sometime. Maybe even tonight if I have time.
Working in the evening though may put a bit of a damper on my blogging, but we will try. I love reading the blogs of others that we know, so now you will get the chance to stay caught up on our family. It may be fun...or it could be boring for you, either way...enjoy.
Just so you know a bit about us and where we are:
Kim- working at Champaign Urbana Special Recreation (CUSR) for the last 7 months and enjoying it. It wasn't much of a change from DSC, I am doing a lot of the same things and working with the same people which is really nice.
Jason- works at the U of I, doing research and he loves his job. Don't ask any details, it is WAY over my head, but if you want to know anything specific, I will let him blog his info to you. Bradley- 12 years old, 6th grader at Edison Middle School. Doesn't like school, never brings home homework, loves watching TV, Reading, and at times likes being a big brother.
Rebecca- 5 years old, knows EVERYTHING about everything. Will be going to kindergarten in the fall at Bottenfield (which is right down the street from us). You would think this child is a teenager the way she talks and acts.
James- 16 months old and the apple of his moms eye. I wasn't sure I wanted a boy, but omg...I love this little man. Walking, talking (some), and has his parents wrapped around his finger.
Quincy, Duh, Iggy, and Barry- Our dog, cat, and 2 lizzards.

That is the O'Connor clan...we have a lot on our plate everyday, but we LOVE it.

Welcome to our blog!!!
